Sicherman Dice

چکیده

The subject of Sicherman dice began with a question posed and answered by Colonel George Sicherman which was originally reported in the February 1978 issue of Scientific American. Sicherman wanted to determine if there was another way to label a pair of sixsided dice, using only positive integers such that the probabilities of the sums would be the same as a standard dice. Sicherman discovered that, in fact, there is one other way. These are the Sicherman dice, one of which is labeled 1, 2, 2, 3, 3, and 4 and the other is labeled 1, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 8. The tables below show the sums of the regular dice and Sicherman dice, respectively. Looking at these tables it can be seen that for the all of the possible sums of the two dice, 2,3,4,...,12, the probabilities are 1 36 , 2 36 , 3 36 , 4 36 , 5 36 , 6 36 , 5 36 , 4 36 , 3 36 , 2 36 , and 1 36 .

MATHEMATICAL MODELLING FOR DICE FINDER GAME PROBLEM

Play is often episodic and mission-centric, with a series of challenges culminating in a final puzzle or enemy that must be overcome. Multiple missions played with the same characters may be related to each other in a plot arc of escalating challenges. The exact tone, structure, pace and end (if any) vary from game to game depending on the needs and preferences of the players, as in [9]. "THE C...

Nber Working Paper Series Wage Dynamics and Unobserved Heterogeneity: Time Preference or Learning Ability?

A large portion of the variation in wages and wage growth rates among individuals is due to "unobserved" heterogeneity, and the source of individual heterogeneity is typically attributed to data limitations and/or the unobservability of certain productivity related factors. In this paper we develop a test that discriminates between two inherently unobservable sources of heterogeneity (both of w...

Optimal strategies for equal-sum dice games

In this paper we consider a non-cooperative two-person zero-sum matrix game, called dice game. In an (n, σ) dice game, two players can independently choose a dice from a collection of hypothetical dice having n faces and with a total of σ eyes distributed over these faces. They independently roll their dice and the player showing the highest number of eyes wins (in case of a tie, none of the pl...
